Last updated 8 months ago

Here at the Y, we care about the well-being of others. Just for you, we will be posting, Wellness Wednesdays,"  Bi-weekly Tips for a better YOU.

For our first post we feature: WATER and it's trimming capabilities.

Did you know that drinking water before a meal can aid in taking in fewer calories at meal time?

It's true. The Scientific American along with a host of other publications have reported this to be a fact.

According to The Scientific American, earlier studies show that adults who drank two cups of water before a meal ate about 75 to 90 fewer calories over the course of the meal. Half of the group drank 16 ounces of water before meals. The other half didn’t.

A few things to remember:

  • Water is healthy, but don't forget to consume the proper nutrients per meal.
  • Don't go into starvation mode - but take go over-board either. Moderation and Balance is key.
  • Exercise. It's a healthy way to rid yourself of excess water. Not only does drinking water combined with exercise help shed pounds, it also makes for an overall healthy YOU.
