Y-Fact!
We've got a little Y-Fact to share with you:
Believe it or not, just about everybody has a Y-Story that shows how the Y impacted their life. Today, we've got one to share with you about a Oscar Winning Actress!
Actress Sandra Bullock was a member of our Gymnastics Program at YMCA Woodmont. Bullock - Virginia native, once balanced on our beams and learned about gymnastics right here in our area.
Director of the YMCA Woodmont, Joe D'Emidio, who taught Bullock, said that in 1978-1980 Bullock and her sister were both members of the gymnastics team at the Y on 13th street.
He said she was a "pretty good" gymnast and a strong asset to the team because she actually created the teams' name, The Angels. The girls' team still goes by the name that Bullock created 33 years ago. After learning balance and more at the Y gym, Bullock went on to learn theater and since has had a very rewarding career in Hollywood.
Yep - it's a Y-Fact!
