Wellness Wednesday: Breast Cancer Check-ups & Screening = Important
Last updated 7 months ago
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this Wellness Wednesday is all about Breast Cancer awareness and screenings.
It's important to get screened and routine check-ups to prevent your chance of getting breast cancer.
Why get screened now?
- According to the National Cancer Institute at NIH, just because your doctor might recommend you have a screening, does not mean you may have cancer, but it is better to get screened before you experience any symptoms.
- Getting screened now helps to determine your health at the early stages where cancer is easier to treat.
Types of Screenings
- Mammogram - an X-ray of the breasts
- Clinical Breast Exam - an exam performed by a doctor or health professional.
To learn more about these procedures and other information on how you can take control of your health and prevention of breast cancer visit the NCI/NIH website here.
